Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay secure last spots for Germany 2017

The final dice has cast, all tickets are confirmed: Since Sunday night the field of participants for the Women’s Handball World Championship in Germany is completed. The last three teams to clinch their berth for the event in Germany (1 to 17 December 2017) are the medallists of the Pan American Championships, which concluded in Buenos Aires.

Thanks to a comprehensive 38:20 (18:8) victory in the final against hosts Argentina, Brazil took the trophy in style. In total, it was the tenth continental title for the 2013 World Champions. Both sides had already confirmed their participation in Germany by reaching the final. Brazil had beaten Uruguay 42:23 (25:8) in their semi and kept a clean record until the end of the championships, while Argentina left Paraguay behind by 29:19 (15:9).

Finally, Paraguay won the crucial bronze medal match 24:22 (15:13) against Uruguay to secure their third ever ticket for a Women’s World Championship. Brazil and Argentina had won their respective preliminary round groups by four victories each.

 

Those 24 teams have qualified for Germany 2017:

Europe: Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Denmark, France, Sweden, Romania, Serbia, Hungary, Spain, Montenegro, Slovenia, Russia, Czech Republic.

Asia: Korea, Japan, China

Africa: Angola, Tunisia, Cameroon

Wild card: Poland

Pan America: Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay

The draw for the preliminary round groups will take place in Hamburg on 27 June (14:00 hrs. local time). The purchase of tickets had already started online via the official website germanyhandball2017.com/tickets
